Herriots House Reviews

What a beautiful house, located within minutes of Skipton town, the Liverpool and Leeds canal and much more. We found the house beautifully decorated, everywhere was clean, warm and cosy. It had plenty of space for the girly 60th Birthday weekend. A hot tub outside with patio area to eat and dine was a great addition. The kitchen had everything we needed, with an added welcome basket which was lovely,
An absolutely lovely place, furnished to the highest spec and comfort. We will be back next year!
Pamela
This was the ideal property for us, 5 adults and 4 older teenagers although it has a quirky layout. The situation is ideal, close to town, restaurants and railway station. There were also pleasant walks in the park and along the canal. We loved the hot tub and who would have thought we would be sitting outside in December enjoying Christmas Drinks. We had a meal at the Rhubarb restaurant next door and thoroughly enjoyed it. Altogether a very successful experience.
The property was lovely however we felt it would have benefitted from a lounge area inside the main house. Having said that we enjoyed our stay and the staff at the hotel were very helpful with dealing with a couple of issues. The property is in an excellent location being opposite train station and shops and only a few minutes walk along either the road or the canal into the town centre.
Lovely accommodation. Very clean, comfortable, warm and well equipped. The only thing missing were some beer glasses we had a keg of my husband's home brew. The fact that only one dishwasher was working was also slightly inconvenient as there were 12 of us, although that meant plenty of hands to help with the washing up. The generous welcome hamper was a nice surprise and much appreciated. The outdoor heated seating area and hot tub were fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The location is great, very handy for local amenities and canal walks. The Rhubarb restaurant at Herriots Hotel next door does an excellent brunch. All in all Herriots House was ideal for our family weekend celebrating an 80th birthday.
The property was excellent and in a great location to town, train station, shops and pubs. We did have a problem with the electric overloading so tripping when a few electrical appliances were on. Great place to stay will definitely be back and sincerely will recommend
Barbara
A wonderful house in a great location, only a 10 minute stroll into Skipton and less than 5 minutes to the nearest supermarket. All five bedrooms had an ensuite which was brilliant. The outdoor space with the hot tub was a great hit, especially with our teenager grandchildren. My only small criticism would be to ge5 rid of the swing seat in the downstairs living area and replace it with a more comfortable settee. To accommodate more people. There were more settees upstairs but that had no window and. was a bit dark, this was also commandeered by the teenagers. All in all, the week was a great success and enjoyed by all 11 members of our family.

We booked this for a joint 70th Birthday girls weekend away. We had a fantastic time! The facilities in the property are great. Bedrooms were all lovely and the kitchen had everything we needed, 2 fridges was very useful. We particularly enjoyed the outside seating area and hot tub. The property is in a fantastic location, directly opposite the train station however no noise at all. Also only a 5 minute walk into the centre of Skipton to lovely shops, bars and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.
Brenda
Great house. Very good location with the canal right behind. Great for us as five couples. Each having own ensuite. Plenty of room and great outside space with hot tub. Welcome hamper was much appreciated. My only criticism would be lack of drawers in bedrooms meaning smaller items of clothes remained in case.
A perfect spot Herriots House was one of the best places we stayed in. The house was well equipped, decorated to a high standard and very comfortable. A lot of thought went into the accommodation including dog baskets, water bowls and toys for the furries amongst us. It is well placed for the train station and local supermarket, and had lovely walks along the canal and parks. I cant praise the hotel staff highly enough as we always had a warm welcome and a quick response to all our queries. I highly recommend the Rhubarb restaurant as the food was absolutely some of the best weve had. All in all it was an excellent holiday break with family and I can see us returning sometime soon! Well done to all!
Sheila
Just a shame that neither of the dishwashers worked. Other than that the accommodation was great. I did suggest that a ground floor bedroom be changed into a lounge as we had two children with us & we weren't able to put the children to bed at the same time as stay in the annexe with the log burner. It also made it inconvenient to get drinks from the kitchen when we were in the annexe as it meant going outside.
We had a fabulous time, everyone loved their rooms and bathrooms. Comfortable beds, super towels. House was beautifully decorated on arrival, and was really warm.
Michelle
We had a fantastic stay, the house was surprisingly bigger than it looked on the pictures, the annex was a fantastic addition to the garden area. We hired a beautician for a pamper evening and she used the annex as a treatment room.. very cosy with the log fire and perfectly situated with access to the garden and hot tub afterwards. The garden is very private and not overlooked, and the wall patio heaters were fantastic once out of the hot tub and even for just sitting out with drinks on a cold evening. The social space was very good with the garden annex and kitchen dining area being well equipped with plenty of space for large groups. The quality of the furniture and furnishings was good and felt quite boutique in style. The house was in a very good location close to town, supermarkets and shops. There are bars and restaurants along with the markets, canal for boat trips and the castle all within walking distance. The property is owned by the hotel next door and they were fantastic at answering any questions before our stay. The communication and welcoming hamper full of essentials and goodies was a lovely gesture. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! And would recommend to any groups of friends Many thanks
We found the house to be extremely well equipped with no shortage of crockery, glasses and cutlery. There is also ample parking for 4 cars which was ideal for our large group. The house was immaculate and once wed found the switch for the induction hob Lauren on reception was very helpful as it was hidden in a cupboard! we found all the kitchen appliances of a high standard. Having two fridges when the house accommodates so many people is very useful. The bedrooms were furnished to a good standard and the beds very comfortable. A small suggestion would be for a lamp in the kitchendiner near the window as we found the overhead light very bright so bought some candles. The hot tub was toasty warm and the outside heaters made it accessible in mid October. This is a lovely property and in an ideal location to access all that Skipton and the surrounding area has to offer but is also so well equipped that during ones stay it is very straightforward to be completely self sufficient.
Cannot recommend highly enough. Beautiful house, amazing outside area and fabulous location
We booked Herriots House for a family weekend away and it was perfect for us. Before our visit we found the staff were very helpful and accommodating, and quick to respond to queries. We were allowed an earlier check in and a welcome hamper was waiting for us when we arrived which was appreciated. The house is lovely and had everything we needed. The kitchen was really wellequipped, all of the rooms were clean and very comfortable and there was plenty of space both inside the house and outside for 11 of us. The hot tub was popular, too! The house is just a couple of minutes' walk from the Town Centre and it's right next to the canal so the location is ideal for exploring Skipton. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and would definitely recommend Herriots House.
The house was better then we could have expected! It was the prefect stay and great location. There was 12 of us and we just had the best time sat in the garden and in the jacuzzi. The beds are so comfortable and we have all said we cant wait to visit again!
Gorgeous house, clean, well equipped and in a great location. We were able to check in early and the staff at the hotel were lovely and helpful. We loved our stay, thank you.
Excellent property and location unfortunately we had 2 bedrooms that rained in ... Excellent property and location unfortunately we had 2 bedrooms that rained in and the covered outside area leaked badly rendering unusable possibly through poor maintenance, but to be fair the management did their best to help
Andrew
The house is very well situated for exploring Skipton and surrounding areas. Although it is on a busy road youd never know once inside. There is a park just behind the house for children to let off steam and a canal path that takes you for a lovely 10 minute walk into Skipton centre. Perfect house for our party of 10, 6 adults and 4 children. When we arrived, we greeted warmly and there was a very generous welcome hamper. The fittings and furnishings were of a high standard and good sized bedrooms were all en suite with amazing showers. The spacious kitchendining room is very well equipped, had everything we needed, the two dishwashers were a particular bonus for a large party! The hot tub was great success even in November! The only downside is that the lounges are separate from the main house, which is difficult for those with young families and even for those without children, as you have to dash across the courtyard every time you want a drink or snack, especially as the covered walkway is blocked with outdoor furniture. However, the plus points outweigh this and we had a marvellous time and would recommend Herriots House to others.
The house was everything we had hoped for in order for the family to celebrate a big birthday. We were a party of 8 adults and 7 grandchildren ages 18mths to 12yrs and two dogs and we fitted in comfortably. The house was beautifully clean and spotless when we arrived with a lovely welcome hamper. The fittings and furnishings were of a high standard and the hot tub went down a storm. The house is well situated walking distance to Skipton town centre, Aireville park for dogs and children to let off steam and a Morrisons opposite. The only negative points were firstly, we were encouraged to recycle but the bins were full to overflowing we even took a bag home ourselves and secondly, the shower in the rear ground floor bedroom leaked through the wall to the front ground floor bedroom. Both of these are easy to resolve.
Catherine
Super weekend at Herriotts House. Facilities were everything you could wish for home from home. However, it would have been nice to have a TV in the kitchendining area or a small living area in the main building. Had we had young children with us then probably the existing layout would have been perfect. This is only a general comment it did not detract from the marvellous time we had even good weather was provided! Thank you.
Alexandra
We had a group of 12 stay at the house for a weekend and had an absolutely amazing time away! The hot tub and outdoor space were brilliant and we spent many hours in there. A very close walk to the high street which was very convenient. The facilities were brilliant, the kitchen had all the equipment we needed for a large meal in. We did have a cleaning issue which was rectified immediately by the hotel manager. Would have given a 5 rating without that.
Absolutely wonderful house, loved every minute, will definitely be back,
Alison
Fantastic house in a great location. We had a weekend here in Jan 22. The house is beautiful, everything you could need for a weekends stay. Agree with other reviews that it can be a bit of an issue that the lounge is separate but the dining room is a lovely space for socialising and the lounge area is still useful at other times during your stay. Hot tub and outdoor area are perfect and imagine would be even better in summer. All ensuite bedrooms and a really good size which makes for extra comfort. Great park and canal just behind and easily walkable into Skipton town centre. Great stay, we will be back! Thank you
Alison
We had a lovely week at Herriots House over the Christmas period. The rooms were very comfortable and the fact that all the rooms were en suite worked really well for our party of 12. The showers and bathrooms were lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed, the two dishwashers and fridges freezers were great over the Christmas period. The location was perfect, the House is very close to the supermarkets and Skipton town centre. The only downside was the lounge being slightly detached from the house, in the annex. We did use the lounge a lot, but it was more in the evening when the whole group went across to watch a film. Most of the time we sat around in the kitchen area. The walkway isnt water proofed even the bit with a plastic roof! so we had to dash back and forth and a floor mat just inside the annex would have been really good to wipe our feet. To protect the floor a bit. The staff at the hotel were very helpful, we had a couple of small issues during our stay and they sorted them very quickly. I would recommend to other large parties wanting to spend time together.
Debbie
Had a lovely last minute stay in the house. Very convenient location to shops and quaint little town. House was spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and lovely double waterfall showers. The only negatives I have was the hot tub kept tripping all the electricity in the house and disturbing our relaxation ha ha, no biggy just a nuisance. Also the lounge was in a separate annex from the house not far but would have been nice to have a roomy main lounge in the house. Would definitely recommend this beautiful property.
Tracey
Herriot House proved to be a fantastic base for our family holiday in Skipton. Great location, a superbly appointed house with high quality fixtures and fittings.
