Bridge End Cottage Reviews

A beautifully spacious, yet cosy, super comfortable & inviting home, with everything you could have wanted carefully considered and catered for. From the welcome message, generous gifts, to the visitor information, restaurant & coffee shop recommendations, to all of the cookware, pans etc. one might desire to cook a nice meal in. It was an idyllic break, and just what my family needed.
Caroline
Lovely stay, great location for exploring, warm, comfortable and well equipped. Loved the nearby waterfalls and the knights table pub. Would definitely return
Excellent accommodation in beautiful location. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Teacoffeemilk and bottle of fizz on arrival a lovely welcome and hairdryers provided in rooms a nice surprise.
Arlene
We loved our week at this property. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely cake and welcome pack from the owner which was a lovely touch after our drive. The kitchen was bright and fresh and had everything you could possibly need only slight suggestion is to maybe look at some new frying pans as the ones there are starting to lose their nonstick. The coffee machine wasn't listed on the description which was a lovely bonus on arrival so we could have a lovely coffee. The sitting room again was lovely and bright and had enough seating for everyone. The owner provided lots of blankets for sitting outside and materials for starting a fire in the wood burner. the bedrooms had so much space in them and were also so very comfy so it was lovely to go to bed after a long day exploring. The hot tub was beautiful and again perfect for a couple of hours in the afternoon when we stayed in rather than explore. I love how secure the garden was for the two dogs this truly is a pet friendly property. Only a couple of things were the communications on arrival informationtimes were varying across different messages via Sykes, owner and advert even after confirming with Sykes the checkin time. Also the adverts doesn't state there are steps throughout the property on each level apart from the main stairs. For us it wasn't a problem but with a family member becoming less mobile a little notes about this might be worth considering. We look forward to visiting again.
Sharon
Just a bit chilly on the heating setting, we had to work out how to manually up the heat a little. We did use the log burner but it is quite expensive to fuel with logs.
A fantastic cottage in a beautiful area. Property was very clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and had plenty of room for 7 adults.
Outstanding cottage, clean and tidy throughout, set in a lovely village in the Dales , there with a party of eight and no one got in each others way, as we were all adults the seating at night was snug , but not a major gripe, would give this cottage a 49 out of 5 , and would definitely return for another stay .
Rebecca
Bridge End Cottage is a stunning little cottage in the heart of Stainforth. The cottage was lovely and clean and the welcome pack, cake, bubbly and flowers were a really nice surprise. Thank you. When booking I was worried that the hot tub would be overlooked by those walking over the bridge, but the garden is designed so well. It's split in two, one small area that leads to the stream where you can sit and enjoy the fire pit, the main garden is a tranquil spot to sit back and relax. All the bedrooms had super comfy beds. All facilities in the cottage were well thought of, there was everything we needed plus more. Stainforth is a gorgeous little village perfectly situated to explore Yorkshire. If you like walking you could easily leave your car at the cottage and explore locally for the week. If you like a bit of industrial history, visit the Craven Lime Kilns, a short walk away and quite undiscovered.
Fantastic Cottage, amazing location . ................. everything you need. Great for dog owners as walking on your doorstep, pub stones throw away ... every member of the family enjoyed it, the children loved having a paddle in the river which is very low at the end of the garden, the garden is secured in two parts one with access to the river and one with access to a lovely patio area little sun trap and hot tub so not worrying about the children or dogs having access to the river..........
Christine
The cottage is lovely. Stainforth is a sweet little village with lots of walks and many attractions within walking distance. We loved the log burning stove and the sofas were well placed for a cosy night in. Our welcome pack included everything we needed with the bonus of a bottle of Prosecco. Unfortunately we were not able to take advantage of the hot tub due to inclement weather. Would definitely recommend. Prob not suitable for anyone in a wheelchair as there are several steps with different floor levels.
Jennifer
A great location with many lovely walks on the doorstep and a good homely pub only yards away. The property is well maintained and comfortable and the owner very helpful. We had a most enjoyable stay and will be going back.
Deborah
Lovely comfortable clean cottage in a beautiful area with may lovely walks straight from the cottage. Highly recommended!
Jeremy
A lovely holiday in beautiful scenery. Just what we all needed. The hosts were very responsive to requests and the cottage was very clean and nicely decorated. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Lovely cottage, spotlessly clean. Excellent location. Great for 2 or 3 couples, but kitchen is not large so dining with more than 6 would be very tight.
Wonderful cottage in a stunning location, the spa was a fantastic addition and we really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen is very well equipped and the bedroom a very comfortable, the children loved the river and being so close to it was lovely. We enjoyed some local walks thanks to the detailed explanations left in the guest folder....
A beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. What a lovely surprise to have fresh flowers, a chilled bottle of Prosecco and a few other little essentials waiting for us. Furnished to a high standard, the bedrooms particularly comfortable and so nicely done, but the loveliest part for me was the path down to the river with fairy lights and seating area.....magical. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again. Lovely walks to both local waterfalls which made the weekend.
Beautuful cottage in a stunning area . Stayed for 7 nights with our 3 sons and little dog . Cottage has everything you would need and the beds are soooo comfy . Nice little touches left for our arrival cakes , Prosecco
The cottage was absolutely perfect! All the characterful quirks and beauty just blew us away as soon as we walked in! It fitted around the family perfectly with a downstairs double bedroom and downstairs shower room and toilet which allowed my grandparents a convenient and stress free stay! The location was lovely with the outside stream running through and the nearby walks! A short car ride into settle meant we could pop in the market town and have a wonder yet we were secluded enough to enjoy the surrounding walks and waterfalls! Also had lovely pubs nearby just all round a fantastic holiday!
The cottage was lovely, clean and well presented. There was nice touches of little gifts when we arrived. Would highly recommend it. Only feedback is that it could maybe advertise that hot tub only in use between 12pm and 9pm, we fancied a dip in the morning and it was cold! Other than that a highly recommended trip. We will revisit.
Lovely cottage, comfy and cosy stay. Well equipped And every homely. Clean and tidy, and a lovely package of tea and coffee with cakes on arrival.
Nicola
Brilliant stay. Gorgeous cottage, stunning decor, comfy beds and so cosy, especially with the log burner. Great location in the centre of a quaint village, with fabulous, friendly local pub just next door across the river. Lots of great walks from the door. Idyllic small riverlarge stream was ideal for little ones to splash about in their wellies. Whilst the lovely hot tub was ideal for the grown ups, especially with a glass of fizz, under the stars next to the babbling stream! Couldnt recommend enough, we will be back.
Lovely cottage in a great location for walking in the dales. Hot tub, log burner and bedrooms could not be faulted and it all felt luxurious. Note to visitors. There is a disc parking card in the kitchen and this is useful for parking in the market Square in Settle. Hot tub on a timer so available until 9pm which was fine. Only very minor negative was corners of rooms could do with a feather duster. Highly recommended. Thank you
Cottage comfortable ,and cosy Welcome pack a delightful surprise . Ideal location for touring all the area .Owners personal touch really considerate. We felt very well informed ,from booking to arriving . A great holiday in a beautiful part of the country
Bernard
Although the weather was disappointing it did not stop us enjoying a break in the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage was comfortable and homely with special touches awaiting our arrival. We had a no TV week by choice and enjoyed playing games and doing jigsaws provided in the cottage in the evenings. The hot tub was wonderfully relaxing and very popular with all of us. We are a three generation family and there was something for everybody. Highly recommended.
We all had a relaxing week and enjoyed Bridge End Cottage and the village of Stainforth
We had a great family holiday week at the lovely Bridge End Cottage despite the June rains ! All the family 6 adults, 1 four year old and two dogs found the cottage so cosy and welcoming including the wonderful greetings pack from the owners ! The new hot tub spa was fantastic... even during the rain ... a canopy would have been asking too much
The cottage has a lovely atmosphere of quality and homeliness with attention to detail. It is in a great location in the Yorkshire Dales with the river accessible at the end of the garden. There was enough room for our three generation family to be together and yet have own space too. The new luxury spa was enjoyed by all. The owner was speedy in response to sort out any issues.
Gorgeous cottage in a lovely quiet location.
In terms of your tick rating we were quite disappointed with this property. We have self catered a lot so have several places to compare it with. The beds were comfy though comfort in super king suffered because of twin join. In a general sense the cottage was clean bathroom, toilets etc and the heating system worked well so warm and cosy. However here is a list of some of the main things we feel let us down Limited kitchen equipment eg no sieve to drain rice, initially no cafetire, no pyrex basins, measuring jug, scales etc. Filthy grill and oven. Guest book comments would suggest this has been the case for sometime! Impossible access to fridgefreezer, grill and oven once people are seated at the table Kitchen table and seating only really caters for six people General impression of kitchen was that it needed revamping and reorganising Extractor fan in downstairs loo blew out dirty fluff Loo brushes and holders needed renewing Upstairs shower screen leaked badly over floor Inadequate storage for clothing. Ridiculous coathangers. Looked as though they were a job lot from Mothercare . Could not hang adult trousers on them. Television wouldnt work because the aerial socket was broken Generally we felt the cottage looked tired and worn and needed a redo especially as we stayed at the beginning of the season the standard was not good. We felt it was ok if you wanted to drink wine overflowing with wine glasses!, use the hot tub and eat at the pub, not if you were serious about self catering. By the way, the hot tub was great.
Claire
Cottage was beautiful with great facilities and really comfortable and interior was of a high standard. Th only slightly negative comment is the wood fired hot tub wasnt warm enough until late Saturday and took 3 bags of logs to heat and maintain. Once it was going it was a lovely place to relax. Great walks from the door and area had so much to offer. Well worth a visit and ideal cottage and location for a family catch up.
Louise
Lovely cottage for my birthday weekend away. Weather was horrible and so we definitely made the most of the accommodation! Beds were very comfortable and the living space was perfect for socialising. Paul and Lianne were wonderful hosts and looked after us well. Only slight issue was that we struggled to get the hot tub to a suitable temperature too cold and then too hot, but this certainly didnt spoil our weekend. The cottage is also in an excellent location for exploring the local area. We would definitely stay here again!
Geraldine
Re booking on phone. All very polite and easy. However I rang to ask about maps and local info, which your email says are available via your App and the person I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about and said I could Google the info. I know I can Google but it did say I could get the info from you. Then the person said I was going to a lovely property which was indeed the case! and that this property did not require a Good Housekeeping Bond which was incorrect as it did.
Great cottage well presented, and comfortable. Only snags were the log burner, which didn't seem to produce much heat?and problems with the wifi, for some of the party.Other than that great weekend and would definitely recommend.
Anthony
Great cottage, great location
The cottage itself was beautiful and in a good location. The host was brilliant at responding to e mails. However we used the Sykes app for directions and it took us to the wrong address, it was not even in the right village!
The owners were extremely helpful when I mistakenly locked myself out. They came as soon as I messaged them and unlocked the door. Very nice people. The house is beautiful and the location perfect for day trips around Yorkshire and The Lake District.
There was a few little things in the cottage that were there on arrival. small dints in fridge, damaged cooker hob, scatches on doors, looked like someones small dog I did take photos on arrival with date and time. non of this detracted from a good week and we would use the cottage again.
Deborah
An idyllicic cottage in an idyllic location! An absolute gem of a find, beautifully decorated, great facilities. The location is second to none backing onto to the beautiful little river, yet 50 yards from the cosy local pub, with amazing walks and stepping stonesCatrigg Force just on your doorstep. The hot tub was brilliant, really fun and bliss to lie back in with a glass of bubbly, listening to the babbling stream under the stars! Highly recommend, we will be back!
Little touches such as the welcome pack, flowers and bottle of fizz made us feel very welcome. I would book again without hesitation. We had a great holiday.
