Old Hall Cottage Reviews

Katherine
Beautiful cottage in a picturesque setting. Very well set up with everything you need. Owner contacted us to confirm the arrangements on the day which was appreciated.
Lovely cottage with everything we needed after completing the three peaks challenge in Yorkshire! Would stay again
Barbara
Excellent accommodation exactly what we needed to walk the Yorkshire 3 peaks
Janet is a great host, she helped us navigate to the cottage in a stormflood. The cottage itself is lovely, very spacious, comfortable, clean. Excellent hot tub. 2 showers which is ideal when there are 67 people, 2 toilets. Comfy beds. The underfloor heating in the kitchen is not overwhelming but just a nice heat that takes the edge off the chill. We did some great walks from the doorstep to Victoria Cave and some waterfalls. My family and I stayed here inbetween Christmas and New Year. A great stay I imagine we will be visiting again! My suggestions for improvement would be A few essentials in the kitchen e.g tea bags, tin foil, baking paper there was salt and pepper however Booths isn't far if you have a car. Enough firewood for duration of stay although it does seem standard in accomodation that you have to provide your own. I would rearrange the downstairs to have a dining room next to the kitchen no sofas, just big dining table and make the other downstairs room into a room with enought sofa space for all guests.
Fabulous spaciuos cottage with everything you need and more! We were a party of seven with ages ranging from 24 81. Plenty of room for us all with flexibility with sleeping arrangements with the sofabed in the dining room. Beds comfy, with plenty of pillows and towels. Hot tub was lovely and warm with bench around the outside and lights in it and more towels and robes available to use. Cottage in a great location with lots of walks on the doorstep and not too far from nearest shops. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need for cooking for yourself including oil, salt, pepper, kitchen roll and lots of storage for your supplies. Sofas and cushions comfy and wifi and tvs worked well. We had three cars and it was a bit of a tight squeeze to park them all in the dedicated parking for the cottage but a neighbour at the back said we could park one vehicle at the back of the house so we did. The fires were lovely with plenty of coal and wood definately a highlight to come back to after out November daily jaunts. Heating warmed the other rooms well. Lots of hooks for coats and large shoe tack for walking boots, etc. Only small thing property needs is a mirror in each bedroom. We would all recommend Old Hall Cottage as a great place to stay!
Roomy inside & out which is what we were looking for. Kitchen floor was a bit sticky around the sink area. We couldnt locate a mop. Loads of cupboard space throughout the building. Car parking is good. Maybe think about electric car charging point? Hot tub lid was not secured when we arrived. We only found the attachment points for the security straps at ground level at the end of the stay. In the event I dont think the chance of our three year old lifting the lid was high. All in all very good venue for family with children
Andrew
Fabulous Christmas holiday. Old Hall Cottage is a wonderful farmhouse style property nestling in the lovely Ribble Valley near the pretty market town of Settle. Everything was perfect for us except the weather and we have no hesitation in recommending this property!
Old Hall Cottage is a lovely place to stay. There was plenty of room for all 6 of us. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the walks from the door and Settle itself was in easy walking distance down the river. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evening and Janet came every morning to check it was ok. All in all a lovely autumn break.
We had a fantastic week with all our family together. The lady who owns it was very helpful, she even apologized for the bad weather, although it wasn't bad every day!! I wasn't bothered about the hot tub, but once I went in I loved it!! Will recommend it whole heartedly & hope to go again next year
The cottage is in a lovely location, very quiet, with lots of walks from the door but only a short drive from Settle. It was very comfortable with plenty of room for a family of 8. The kitchen was large and well equipped, and it was nice to have the hot tub. Overall we had a great holiday and would certainly consider booking again.
Our family enjoyed a great holiday in this lovely cottage. The property is spacious, has a excellent kitchen, the beds are very comfortable and theres a hot tub. The location is very peaceful but only minutes away from Settle. Janet, our host, was very responsive. On a particularly hot day we mentioned that a parasol would be appreciated, one was delivered within the hour. Excellent customer care!
The day we arrived a very heavy wooden door to the room where four young children were to sleep was hanging off its top hinge. We reported it and nothing happened. We reported it to another family member who said that the previous renters had complained. Two pathetic attempts at repair later they left the door wedged so the children had to sleep with their door open if that door had fallen on a child they could have been killed. Appalling attitude. No sky T.V. No DVDs. No games. No welcome pack. At least there were plenty of loo rolls and kitchen roll, and they provided a bbq suitable for cooking for two not much use for a large family so we left it.

We had a great holiday. The cottage was great and in a good spot to explore the area. Hot tub was great and used every day. Kitchen was lovely and well equipped. Car parking was good and the garden was very nice. The only downside was only having one toilet upstairs and having to go downstairs in the night so as not to wake up the people in the bedroom next to the toilet. Overall though we had a great time and would recommend.
Very nice cottage in a lovely location and of course the hot tub was a massive hit with our grandsons! !
Joanne
This is a lovely house in beautiful surroundings. The house was cosy with comfortable beds, and the kitchen very wellequipped. We loved the hottub!
Pamela
We really enjoyed our weekend away, lovely cosy cottage with the added bonus of a hot tub, and in a fantastic location.
Lovely cottage in a great location, it had everything we needed and the hot tub was lovely after a long day walking in the beautiful countryside. We enjoyed walking from the cottage and took the train from Settle to start more distant walks.
Madeleine
Fantastic break in amazing surroundings! The cottage is lovely and spacious with fantastic views. It's an ideal location for those wanting to explore the Dales with some great local walks on the doorstep. It is also only a short drive to Settle. We were a group of 5 and there was plenty of space for everyone. Janet was a great host and checked in that everything was okay. We also arrived to find that the log burner had been lit for us which was muchappreciated on a rainy December evening! The hot tub was a massive hit with everyone and we used it throughout our stay. Overall we had a lovely relaxing break and I would definitely book again.
The hot tub was not warm enough til 6pm on the Saturday night and we arrived at 4 pm on Friday . Some guests only stayed Friday night so missed out on it . This is not fair after paying all that money for a cottage with hot tub !!
Fabulous location
Samantha
The pictures of the cottage dont do it justice. The cottage is very quaint and comfortable with the most amazing views. Theres was lots of space for our 8 adult guests and the kitchen was brilliantly equipped. Settle was a lovely town with some nice places to eat. Perfect stay.
Lovely cottage everything we needed was there, we had an enjoyable stay Janet was pleasant and helpful, hot tub was a hit with everyone .
Gorgeous cottage in gorgeous location. . owner friendly and helpful..very spacious with hot tub a bonus cleaned everyday..would definitely return.
A lovely big cottage, we were 3 adults, 3 older teenagers and a tweenie. The arrangement of rooms was perfect to give everyone space whilst also allowing everyone to be together for meals and relaxing. The downstairs toilet alleviated any issues with sharing the upstairs bathroom and the separate shower room was great, both showers worked well when in use simultaneously. The kitchen was very well equipped. Janet was a great host, she checks the hot tub regularly but was not intrusive. We had a great time here during a heatwave, the garden had plenty of shade and hot tub is great. We also experienced 2 days of rain, a lot of which we stayed inside for. The cottage was well up for the demands this placed on it. Views are fantastic with lots of great walks locally. Will hopefully return as the family loved being together in the cottage.
Alison
Lovely spacious cottage. Owner, who visits each day is able to offer advice about the local area. Well equipped cottage. Only thing suggested needs improving is the sharpness of the kitchen knifes. Thoroughly enjoyable would highly recommend
We had a fab time at old hall cottage. The hot tub and garden was perfect and the kitchen was well equipped! Thank you Janet!
harold
Very comfortable, clean, well located cottage near Settle. Owner was friendly. On our first night we left a message for her that there was no sieve, colander or critically coffee pot. We were very impressed when she responded by delivering those items the next morning. We enjoyed our stay very much. There were 3 issues which would have improved our stay if they had been addressed before we arrived provide sharp kitchen knives, improve heating in the kitchenliving room the wood burner was only just adequate when going full blast, improve the walkin shower the tray filled with water in 2 minutes as the drain was very slowblocked, and when first turned on water projected over the enclosure wetting towels and clothes
Shelagh
We wanted a quiet holiday in the Dales and thats what we had! Lovely house, garden and hot tub. We enjoyed walks from the front door seeing all the farm animals plus had days out at Skipton on the canal and to Haverthwaite railway to catch the steam train followed by a boat trip on Windermere August 2020 so everything was reserved in advance.
Kristy
The pictures dont do this property justice! We had an amazing time here perfect location fabulous hosts and property. Amazing staycation.
Lovely cottage! We all had a fab girly weekend away and arrived to find that the log burner had been lit for us. We also used the hot tub which was a great added bonus! Would def recommend and book again

Wonderful experience. Janet was great at answering all of our requests, such as borrowing a cup of laundry detergent! Loved the heated floors in the kitchen and the hot tub. Oh that hot tub, we loved it after a chilly day in the dales. Beds were so comfortable, and the kitchen was amazing. Great stay, highly recommend it.
We had a great weekend, Janet made arrangements for keys and we met her briefly on the Saturday whilst she attended to hot tub to clean. Lovely lady and very helpful. Thank you
William
Log fire was brilliant with coal and logs supplied.
Spacious cottage with every thing we needed in an excellent location. Hot tub was great after our long walks. Will definitely be visiting settle again and old hall cottage will be our first choice.
Lovely relaxing break in wonderful surroundings. Everything we needed at the cottage and more....plenty of crockery..cutlery and glassware...plenty of towels and bath robes for the hot tub. Comfy beds with quality linen, pillows and duvets. The owner rang to check everything was OK which we all thought was a lovely touch. Certainly recommend the Old Hall Cottage for a fabulous break away in a beautiful and accessible location.
Stuart
Very helpful and friendly owners and the cottage was all we'd hoped for.
When we arrived the cottage was immaculately clean and the hot tub was ready to use, with toweling dressing gowns as well as towels. The hot tub was also regularly checked, which was excellent as the children and adults loved it. The facilities and equipment were really good, with plenty of pots and crocks for our large family although one of the double beds appeared to have a very slight slope. Great spot in a lovely hamlet, with good local walks and countryside on the doorstep, but near enough to Settle for supplies. Would recommend.
