Gisburn Forest Lodge Reviews

A lovely stay at a tranquil lodge. We had one minor issue which was quickly resolved by the owners with great communication throughout. The fridge freezer was a little on the small side for a week stay, but the lodge was clean and well stocked with towels. The hot tub was clean and well used throughout the February stay. Overall a lovely lodge for a short break.
Beverly
Slightly smaller than it looks on the photos, but with 4 adults and 1 dog, we had plenty of room. Everything you need is there. Whether eating in or out. Enough towels for all your needs. Clean throughout and great use of the space. Hot tub is good, would have liked a bit more lighting outside though. The garden was secure enough for our dog to roam around. Not far from excellent walks and a visit to the old vicarage tea room is a must.
Nicola
We had an absolutely wonderful stay here. The lodge was lovely and cosy we also really enjoyed the hot tub. We will definitely return!
Caroline
We had a wonderful time at the lodge, the information provided meant we were prepared for the track to the lodge, however this was not as bad as some of the reviews made out. The area is lovely and peaceful, my only wish is to come back and stay during the summer months where we can make more use of the outdoor areas. That said the garden was loved by both our doggies and they were very sad to leave it behind, especially Ludo who is more upset he lost one of his balls somewhere! Staying over Christmas we came fully prepared to cook a full dinner, however the lodge was super prepared for us and we didn't want for anything, all the tools available in the kitchen meant we had a stress free Christmas. Thank you for the best Christmas we've had in many a year.
Stayed here for 4 nights in October. Communication was excellent with queries swiftly answered. We were lucky to have great weather during our stay although there had been nothing but rain in the previous weeks. The lodge is spotless and very comfortable. The bed was sooo comfy if very high! Loads of towels, kitchen well equipped although no welcome pack so you need to take all food you will need. Nice bottle of Prosecco and chocolates made up for that! Hot tub divine. Only negative is that awful track to it. Huge water filled potholes because of the previous rain impossible to avoid made for very nervous trips down it. Our car is low so we dreaded the journey every time and it will be spending a long time in the car wash! It is a fabulously secluded place and would love to stay again but only if there had been good weather previously.

Glenda
Loved the location. Middle of nowhere.. so quiet. Just what we needed. Did visit places every day some lovely local villages. Waterfalls, holes. Yes we went up a hill path to see the hull pot. And ate at some wonderful local cafes and public houses. Oh and the jacuzzi was a plus. Thank you. Ps. Our dogs loved the garden too. Perfect get away.
Well maintained, comfortable, very clean. Got everything you need for a relaxing break. Hot tub fabulous after walkinggolfing. The access lane spoils it, although appreciate it is mentioned in description. Local Bistro looks inviting but alas we went when closed our mistake.
Charlene
Gorgeous accommodation and lovely scenery
We had such a great holiday and made lots of wonderful memories as a family. I would highly recommend this lodge. Couldn't praise it enough. Everything you need for a relaxing get away or a great base for some hiking adventures. We loved it and will go back!
What a magical property. It was so peaceful and cosy. The outdoor space was brilliant and the lodge had everything you needed. The added bonus of Netflix was great! Will definitely be going back.
Amazing lodge and great facilities
We loved our time at the lodge! We found it very comfortable as a family of four with 2 young children. We very much hope to stay again in the future!

The cabin and area it was absolutely stunning everything we needed and more, the hot tub was brilliant always hot and powerful jets perfect to relax in, we had the best new years there and will be booking to go again in a couple of months, me and my partner absolutely loved the place and the kids are excited to go back again, if you book this cabin you will definitely not be disappointed, nice touches also Prosecco and chocolates and cookies for the kids on arrival, cant recommend this place enough, just stunning and everything you need for a relaxing and great opportunity to see some beautiful scenery and lovely walks
Rebecca
Lovely lodge and beautiful location. We loved the jacuzzi and the host was very easy to communicate with. Thank you for a special time!
Enjoyed our stay at the lodge. Very peaceful and relaxing. Stayed with friend and disabled daughter. Everything clean and tidy, lots of towels, loved the hot tub, beds comfy but could do with a step to get in! Had a laugh getting daughter in!
Interior of cottage was clean and tidy. The exterior could do with a dusting off and the decking swept. Attempted to do this ourselves, but the outside broom was as dusty as the decking. Instructions to switch the hot tub off overnight would be helpful and save costs in electricity. Contact wit the owners was cordial and heplful. Sykes Cottages send far too many advertising emails after you have made your selection and booking!
I can honestly say that the pictures do not do this beautiful lodge justice . It was a perfect little holiday for us and everything you could possibly need was provided including lots of lovely extras . As foster parents we dont often get lots of down time but we achieved this on this holiday ! The accommodation and surrounding area was perfect and safe for our little ones in the day and the fresh air tired them out so we even managed a couple of times in the hot tub and sat outside chilling in the evening. It really is a beautiful place to stay and lots of lovely places to visit nearby. Thankyou to the owners for the lovely stay and for their excellent communication
Rebecca
We booked last minute for myself husband and 2 teenage girls with our dog. The cottage was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. We arrived later in the evening and the hot tub was lovely and warm when we arrived. A nice walk down the track road and by the brookstream with the girls exploring. The plough down the road, served the most amazing sunday lunch and was dog friendly! We will definitely be back and recommend to friends and family!
Tracyann
Wonderful property with fab views and very comfortable. Road down to it was a bit scary as the potholes were very bad so no good for any low set cars. The old vicarage tearooms nearby was great for some lovely food. Cant wait to go back x
This was perfect for us to explore the surrounding area. The garden was great for our dog. The lodge had everything we needed and the hot tub helped us relax at the end of the day. A short walk to the local pub on the site across the brook was very handy. This lodge is in a beautiful area with lots to explore. We loved watching the bats and the stars in the evenings.
First impressions were Wow! This place is amazing and even better than the photos. The gardens are perfect for strolling around and playing with the dogs. Farm animals all around which was lovely and the sound of running water from the beck adjoining the lodge. Inside, absolutely loved the decor, beautiful pictures and hangings on walls and high standard of charming furnishings. Not usually such high quality in rentals. Hot tub was fab. A welcome card, bottle of Prosecco and my favourite chocs just topped it off! Had a text off Andra to say the lodge was ready for us half an hour earlier which was really helpful and communication with our hosts was very good. The only thing negative about our weeks stay was the gas company was working with pneumatic drills at the Holiday Park just across the beck from 9am each weekday, but of course this was totally unforeseeable and out of the control of our hosts and did not stop us from loving this place. We had a wonderful relaxing and fun time here and would like to thank Andra and Chris for such a beautiful place for us to experience and would really like to return.
Charlene
We had a fantastic time! The accommodation was amazing! The views were stunning. We all had a fantastic time
Louise
This was an amazing place, secluded, and beautiful. .the Lodge itself was immaculate..ever so clean, and well equipped..the TV is huge..the WiFi worked very well.the hot tub wonderful...it could benefit from downward lighting in kitchen as door cuts out one lamp..so preferably over cooker area..apart from that we couldn't fault it, and we will be back with family in tow .
Rachael
I felt the lodge could do with some updating in places, the kitchen and bathroom. The fridge was too small for 5 people. Some of the plates were chipped and nothing was matching a small thing I know. Only cheap plastic glasses. Only one mirror in one bedroom and no only socket near the mirror so unable to dry hair in front of mirror. Lighting in bathroom mirror and large mirror in main bedroom really bad for putting make up on. Lighting outside very poor especially around the hot tub. These are suggestions for small improvements but overall the lodge is in a beautiful setting, it was very comfortable and clean. Loads of parking and the hot tub was fabulous. The beds were really comfortable too. Thank you for a lovely stay
Donald
We had a lovely holiday in the lodge which is in a lovely quite location. The lodge itself was lovely and clean and had everything we needed for a holiday break. The hot tub was a lovely bonus and the chocolates and Prosecco a lovely thought. Communication from the owner were very friendly and we had nothing negative to report during our time there except perhaps the holiday was over far too quickly! We would love to stay at this property again and would certainly use Sykes cottages to book as it was a simple process without any issues.Thank you.
Georgina
